You may not need a brand-new mortgage when moving home — many lenders allow you to "port" your existing mortgage deal to a new property, saving you time and potential fees.
Lenders often reassess your affordability when you move, even if you're porting your mortgage. So changes in income, debts or credit score can impact your application.
You can secure a mortgage offer before putting your current home on the market — giving you a clearer picture of your budget for your next home.
